While Thanksgiving can look like and mean a multitude of different things to different people – it ultimately it is a time to express gratitude.
At GQR, we’ve got a lot to be thankful for. We’re honored to work with some of the brightest and most ambitious people in the industry, amazingly talented candidates, and leading-edge clients. This Thanksgiving, we’d like to take a moment to say thank you – to all the people who help make GQR what it is.
In the spirit of paying it forward this season, we’ve compiled a list of ways you can give back and show your gratitude in several different ways.
Run A Turkey Trot
Start your Thanksgiving off with a healthy dose of fun! Turkey trots are a great way to raise money for local charities. Runners can choose the length of their race – one mile, 5ks, and 10ks are popular distances, and Widdle Waddle is a 1K family/kid walk or run (for kids 2-12). You can get involved by locating your local Turkey Trot run, here.
Volunteer At A Local Food Bank
The group, Feeding America, is an excellent resource to locate a food bank or food drive near you. And, because Thanksgiving is one of the business times of the year, these groups need volunteers. If you can’t donate time, some of the highest in-demand items around this time are:
- Boxed stuffing
- Instant mashed potatoes
- Canned vegetables
- Dry macaroni
- Cranberry sauce
- Canned Pumpkin
We pulled a list of food banks near our U.S. offices, but you can locate one near you by visiting https://www.feedingamerica.org/find-your-local-foodbank.
Send A Care Package To Deployed Troops
If you don’t know someone specifically, that’s ok! Groups such as Operation Gratitude offer several options to get involved. And, they support troops, first responders, veterans, recent graduates, wounded heroes & caregivers, and military families.
Sponsor A Family
Through groups such as Family-to-Family, you can provide food, personal hygiene products, and other essentials to those in need. They support families, veterans, and Holocaust survivors to help relieve the strain of poverty and hunger.
Get Involved In #GivingTuesday
The Tuesday after Thanksgiving is known as Giving Tuesday – and this isn’t specific to just the states – it’s global! Below is a list of several organizations you can help get involved with.
- Red Cross®
- ASPCA
- Cedars Sinai
- March of Dimes
- Giving Tuesday – Australia
- Giving Tuesday – United Kingdom
- Giving Tuesday – United States
We wish you and yours a very happy and very thankful Thanksgiving!
