Physicians touch the lives of so many; this week, GQR celebrates National Physicians Week to honor the healers dedicated to the art of medicine. Since the 1930s, Americans have celebrated National Doctors Day annually on March 30 and just two years ago, the advocacy group Physicians Working Together (PWT) led the charge to expand National Doctor’s Day to National Physicians Week, which takes place from March 25-31st.
This week of recognition serves as a dual purpose, to educate the public about physicians and give physicians the time to support the lives of one another.
You may have heard the news: Burnout is now a medical diagnosis. According to the American Medical Association found in 2017 that almost 44% of doctors reported at least one symptom of burnout, in comparison to about 28% of the U.S. population. The health care environment—with its packed workdays, demanding pace, time pressures, and emotional intensity—can put physicians and other clinicians at high risk for burnout.
Let’s take this week to pay appreciation to our amazing physicians out there!
