As of March 15th, the World Health Organization has declared that the coronavirus has spread to over 140 countries with over 150,000 confirmed cases.
As these numbers continue to grow, and demands for social isolation causing widespread cancellations of large-scale events and adoption of work from home policies, organizations are facing some tough decisions while managing increasing anxiety around the COVID-19 outbreak.
While the United States is experiencing the most unexpected halt in economic activity in its history, leading some experts to anticipate a 1.2 percent drop in the global economy, the spread of coronavirus has caused a boost in demand for specific jobs.
The employment services website, Glassdoor, recently published an economic research report examining evidence of how employees and employers are reacting on its platform.
According to Glassdoor, the number of coronavirus-related roles being filled has tripled – including the need for Registered Nurses. Between Feb. 29 and March 6, these types of job postings increased from 100 to 300. Most of the listings are in states that have several cases of the spreading respiratory illness such as California, Washington and New York.
