The career landscape is rapidly changing in favor of automation. Displaced workers from Google, Amazon and Facebook among others are finding themselves in need of retraining to stay competitive. Those very companies are developing training programs to ensure their workers remain valuable in the modern workforce. With the right training, workers can use their current position at top tech companies to gain a foothold in the industry rather than facing displacement. Amazon has a program called Spin that covers 95% of the training cost for warehouse employees, educating for a variety of careers outside of Amazon. Facebook launched a training program for digital skills with a coding school in Michigan. Labor and tech experts predate that workers will need to retrain repeatedly throughout the course of their careers, a trend called lifelong learning.
